Overview

1977 Ducati 860 GTS

This 1977 Ducati 860 GTS has a genuine 16,223 km from new and is an original stock crossover model between the earlier GT and later GTS styles.

Condition & Recent Work

The paint is in excellent overall condition, with just some light scratches on the tank. It has recently been fitted with new drop-shoulder aluminium rims and stainless steel spokes. Avon tyres have approximately 70% tread remaining.

The Conti mufflers are in excellent condition, the chrome is nice, and the bike has just been serviced and tuned.

A Unique Crossover Model

This example features the GTS tank and dual front discs combined with the earlier GT-style frame, Smiths gauges, grab handle and slim, flat two-up seat. With its low handlebars and large footpegs, it offers a particularly comfortable riding position.

The 860 GTS was introduced in 1976 as a more practical touring version of the angular 860 GT, with a revised tank, seat and riding position. It was only produced for two years.

Mechanical & Extras

The previous owner fitted a Sachse electronic ignition, Conti exhaust pipes and K&N pod filters. The starter motor has been removed and a fabricated blanking plate fitted. All original parts have been retained and are included in the sale, including the original Silentium mufflers and airboxes.

The electronic ignition upgrade makes the bike very easy to start.

A genuine, nicely presented example of an increasingly collectible Ducati classic.
