Overview
1983 Honda XLV750 – Rare Limited Edition - #98 of 500
Here’s a very special opportunity to own a true piece of Honda history — a 1983 Honda XLV750, showing a reasonably low 39,604 km for its 42 years. This is one of only 500 “Limited Edition” models produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, making it a rare and highly collectible machine.
Notable Features and Pricing
Exclusive HRC Heritage
The Limited Edition models are instantly recognizable thanks to their bold Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) colors — red, white, and blue — complemented by a red engine, forks, and hubs. Each bike also carries a distinctive gold metal plaque mounted on the right side of the auxiliary frame beneath the seat, proudly displaying its production number.
Engineering Ahead of Its Time
Honda’s XLV750R (type designation RD01) was a technical pioneer. It was Honda’s first dual-sport motorcycle with two non-parallel cylinders — an air-/oil-cooled V-twin featuring hydraulic valve tappets and a shaft drive, making it exceptionally low-maintenance.
Other innovations included:
Dry sump lubrication system using the main frame as an oil tank for better cooling
Three valves per cylinder (two inlet, one exhaust)
Twin spark plugs per cylinder
Crankshaft with offset pins for smoother performance
This engineering DNA paved the way for Honda’s later adventure icons, including the Africa Twin.
Condition & Recent Work
The paint on the tank is flawless — no dents or scratches — while the front guard shows minor scuffing.
We’ve just completed a full service, fitted new fork seals, and confirmed all electrics are working perfectly. Tyres are near-new, and the bike remains in very original condition throughout.
A Rare Collectible – Ready to Ride
This is a first generation, big-bore V-twin adventure bike, combining collectible value with everyday rideability.
