Overview
The Last of the Great Two-Strokes
The Aprilia RS250 holds a special place in motorcycle history as one of the final street-legal two-strokes. Its heart is powered by a Suzuki RGV250 engine, reworked and refined by Aprilia. While Suzuki supplied the motor, Aprilia elevated the package with Italian engineering flair—delivering a sharper, racier, and more exclusive machine.
Italian Craftsmanship Meets Japanese Power
Although the powerplant came from Hamamatsu, the rest of the RS250 is all Italian. The lightweight aluminum-magnesium frame—manufactured by Benelli—paired with Showa forks and a Sachs rear shock, gave the bike razor-sharp handling. Aprilia also tuned the motor with their own airbox, ECU tweaks, and bespoke expansion chambers, resulting in around 70 horsepower in stock trim.
