Honda's Answer to Ducati
At the end of 1999, Honda unveiled the RC51 as a direct challenge to Ducati's dominance in World Superbike racing. Built with a singular purpose, the SP1 was a completely new design that shared nothing with the VTR1000 Firestorm.
Featuring race-bred engineering such as gear-driven camshafts, fuel injection and meticulous HRC attention to detail, the RC51 combined cutting-edge performance with Honda reliability. It produced more power than its Italian rival while offering a level of refinement and value that shocked the motorcycle world.
